Recent events such as COVID-19 have forced schools to move their classes online to ensure the safety of students. If your children are also part of this plan, they will need to prepare for this unique situation. Get your kids ready for the challenges and features of remote learning by obtaining the following resources and tools.
Dedicated Study Area
Just like people who work from home do so from a separate office space, your children may also need a specific area where they can study. This location needs to be isolated from potential distractions, mainly access to food, video games or a bed. This area also gives the children a place where they can place their equipment without cluttering their bedroom, kitchen or other rooms. Obtain ergonomic furniture like chairs and table to ensure comfort and efficiency.
Computers and Other Technology
A computer is a key part of remote schooling, so invest in one if your children do not have it already. While they can use the family computer, they will need to have unlimited access, especially if they are following a strict schedule. Also, prioritize getting a laptop in case they must move locations for any reason. Complement this computer with other useful devices such as headphones and a small printer.
Writing Tools and Paper
Even though most of the work will be completed online, there are times where your kids will need to work with paper or write by hand. The school’s supply lists should be your primary guide when purchasing items. At the very least, your children should have paper and a writing utensil. Even if they are not required, some items are helpful for self-organization such as personalized children’s notecards, old-school calendars and highlighters.
Online classes require your kids to adapt to a new environment, education styles and more. Help them prepare for the transition by getting these important items before school starts.
